Purpose
Anyone pursuing a false statement needs it as evidence first. A screenshot often will not do: it is subject to free judicial evaluation and can be altered afterwards. Archive secures pages so that date and integrity remain provable.

Page with checksum
What is archived is not just an image but the page with its source and a checksum. Only that allows you to show later that nothing was changed.
On occasion or on schedule
A snapshot can be triggered when Monitor finds something, or taken regularly for pages you want to keep an eye on.
Long-term retention
The snapshots stay available even when the source has long since vanished, and can be exported as a package.

Limits we disclose
Strengthens evidence, does not make it watertight
The timestamp shows that a particular content existed in that form at a particular moment. It does not show that the content was unlawful, who wrote it, or that a court will follow your reading. The promise is therefore that it strengthens evidence, not that it is legally watertight - a difference we do not blur.
